Spray foam offers high R-values (a measure of thermal resistance) and acts as both an insulator and air barrier, improving energy efficiency and reducing air leakage. It also provides some moisture resistance and can add structural strength to walls.
Fiberglass insulation, on the other hand, is made of fine glass fibers and comes in batts, rolls, or loose-fill form. It is installed by placing or blowing it into wall cavities or attics. While it is less expensive than spray foam and easier to install in open areas, it doesn't provide an airtight seal and is less effective at preventing air and moisture infiltration. Fiberglass can also lose effectiveness if compressed or exposed to moisture.
